SUSTEX 2026: Bayanihan becomes key to sustainable nation-building
Posted by SM Supermalls on September 01, 2026

Earlier this year, supply chain, transportation, and trade challenges brought about by the fuel crisis tested national resilience. Now more than ever, sustainability grows greater relevance to support government efforts in reinforcing and protecting the growth of the local economy.
SM through SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SM Prime) and SM Supermalls in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and ARISE Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies mounted the 2026 Sustainability Expo (SUSTEX) at SMX Convention Center Aura, Taguig.
"Sustainability offers broad benefits to key economic sectors of a country like ours—rich in resources that contribute to the nation's production, which must be protected and preserved, especially against various risks,” said DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr., said DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr.
Guided by this year's theme of 'Bayanihan Innovation for a Green and Resilient Philippines' SUSTEX aims to scale a clear path forward for sustainable growth in crucial industries of the Philippine economy.
On top of optimizing organizational performance, sustainable innovation introduced through the summit also presents opportunities for community empowerment, enabling enhanced nation-building.
"For decades, SM has seen how holistic sustainability adds value to the communities we serve. When we embraced sustainability early in our transformation journey, environmental stewardship, community empowerment for nation-building, and supporting economic participation and viability allowed us to serve Filipinos better," said Engr. Junias M. Eusebio, SM Supermalls Vice President for Operations
Focused on three key areas for nation-building: an enhanced Circular Economy, Energy Innovation, and Disaster Risk Reduction, the sophomore run of the multi-sector showcase connects industry leaders and decision makers to sustainable pathways for innovation and growth.
SUSTEX also aims to equip crucial sectors such as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises as well as full-scale nationwide businesses, for economic and climate-related disruptions through scalable sustainable solutions.
With over 50 exhibitors and 40 speakers, SUSTEX 2026 showcases the future of nation-building in the Philippines. The annual forum serves as a nationwide platform highlighting innovative technologies, fostering multi-sectoral collaboration, and promoting sustainable solutions that contribute to a more resilient, and future-ready Philippines.
