SM Seaside City opens first Olympic-size skating rink in Cebu

SM, through its entertainment arm, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc., will open an ice skating rink as a leisure and sport activity to complement the complete entertainment experience of SM Seaside City Cebu. The rink is 30 x 60 meters, with a total of 1,800 square meters of ice surface.  Priding itself in being the only Olympic-size rink that can cater to sports on ice, SM Skating will be home to aspiring figure skaters, hockey players, and speed skaters.

With the possibility of extending ice shows and competitions to Cebu to develop the next Olympian skater, President of SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. Mr. Edgar Tejerero says, “SM believes in building athletes that can compete in different avenues of the global arena. We have a growing base of athletes-on-ice and we would like to discover the next Michael Martinez in Cebu.” SM Skating will open with classes for figure skating, ice hockey, and speed skating.

More than a venue for sport development, SM Skating is the perfect family adventure within the metro to keep cool from the Philippines’ sunny weather. The to-be-launched ice rink will offer a variety of ice games, promos, and on-ice activities.
