In line with its ongoing commitment to education, CBS China Bank Savings turned over more than  Php 1.7 million worth of new laptops to the Department of Education (DepEd), contributing to  efforts that aim to strengthen learning continuity and recovery. The turnover ceremony took place  at the DepEd central office in Pasig City on April 25, 2025.

The donation was formally received by Education Secretary Sonny Angara, who acknowledged  the valuable support from the private sector in bolstering DepEd’s programs. The initiative  complements recent calls by education leaders for broader collaboration with institutions that  share the goal of improving learning outcomes across the country.

“This forms part of CBS’s continuing support for public education,” shared Niel C. Jumawan, Head  of the CBS APD Lending Group. He affirmed the bank’s readiness to take part in upcoming DepEd  programs, including Brigada Eskwela and other projects focused on student engagement and  teacher support, especially in underserved communities.

CBS expressed hope that this initiative would contribute meaningfully to DepEd’s Learning  Recovery efforts and encourage other organizations to engage in similar collaborations for the  benefit of learners and educators.

As one of the leading thrift banks in the country, CBS remains committed to promoting inclusive  growth by investing in the future of Filipino youth through sustained partnerships with key sectors  such as education.
