It’s a new month and you know what that means! We’re back with another round-up of all the movies coming soon on the silver screen. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s making it to SM Cinema’s list so you can plan your schedules ahead and book those movie tickets.

Let’s start off the list with films that you can only watch here at SM Cinemas.

Citizen of a Kind (Crime, Drama)

When Deok Hee’s laundromat catches fire, securing a bank loan becomes her only hope of getting her business back on its feet. So, when a bank calls to offer her a generous loan, she considers it a blessing from the heavens and promptly signs the papers. However, the offer turns out to be a scam, and Deok Hee discovers she has fallen victim to voice phishing. What was supposed to be her lifeline ends up pushing her further into despair.

As fate would have it, Jae Min, the scammer, calls again, revealing he is now trapped by a gang. With the police unable to assist her, Deok Hee and her friends decide to take matters into their own hands. They set out to hunt down the thieves, rescue Jae Min, and recover her money.

“Citizen of a Kind” is based on a true story of a laundromat owner in the Gyeonggi Province of South Korea who captured a voice phishing syndicate back in 2015. 

Meet the Cast: The hilarious Ra Mi Ran (“Reply 1988,” “Honest Candidat”e) stars as Deok Hee. Her best friend Bong Rim, portrayed by Yeom Hye Ran (“The Glory,” “The Uncanny Counter”), accompanies her to Qingdao to help retrieve her money. Meanwhile, Gong Myung (“The Bride of Habaek,” “Extreme Job") plays Jaemin, who is held hostage by the villainous Oh Myung Hwan, played by Lee Moo Saeng (“The World of the Married,” “Silent Sea”).

The Promised (Horror)

After her divorce, Alice takes on the dual roles of mother and father to raise her son, August. When August turns 15, strange events begin to unfold, revealing that they stem from a promise—or "moei" (covenant)—his father, A, made to the spirits to conceive a son. Unfulfilled "moei" demands retribution, and now it threatens August's life. "The Promised" takes viewers on a whirlwind adventure, delving into Thai culture and traditions, particularly the traditional Thai dance called Manorah, as it showcases a mother's fight to protect her only son.

Meet the Cast: Janey Ratchanok Suwannaket (“The Maid”) stars as Alice, while Cee Siwat Chotchaicharin (“Kaew Khon Lek,” “Club Friday Season 11”) plays A. Oat Pasakorn Sanrattana (“Love Hurts”) portrays August.

Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Earth Symphony (Animé)

When the world faces the threat of losing all its music, who are you going to call? Apparently, Nobita and his friends! Despite not being the best musician—he struggles with playing the recorder—Nobita steps up when a mysterious girl named Mikka appears. She lures Nobita and his friends into the “Hall of Music,” where they help Mikka perform to save her musical planet. But can they also save Earth?

"Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Earth Symphony" is the 43rd film in the Doraemon franchise. Japanese director Kazuaki Imai returns to helm the project after directing two other Doraemon films: "Nobita’s Treasure Island" in 2018 and "Nobita’s New Dinosaur" in 2020.

Meet the Cast: Voice actress Wasabi Mizuta has been the voice of Doraemon since 2005. Similarly, Megumi Ohara has voiced Nobita, also since 2005.

Gru’s family is growing! In "Despicable Me 4," Gru and Lucy welcome their fourth child, Gru Jr. Despite the baby boy resembling his father, Gru Jr. is slow to warm up to Gru, causing much frustration for the doting dad. On top of this, Gru's sworn enemy, Maxime Le Mal, has escaped from prison and is plotting revenge against our Anti-Villain League agent. As a result, Gru and his family are placed in a sort-of witness protection program, hoping to stay hidden from Maxime's reach. Will Gru be able to protect his family and win the affection of Gru Jr.?

Meet the Cast: Steve Carell (“The Office,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”) continues his iconic role as Gru, which he has voiced since the first "Despicable Me" movie in 2010. Kristen Wiig (“Bridesmaids,” “Ghostbusters”) returns as the voice of Lucy for the fourth installment. Will Ferrell (“Barbie,” “Elf”) lends his voice to the villainous Maxime Le Mal, while Sofia Vergara (“Modern Family,” “Hot Pursuit”) voices his girlfriend, Poppy.

Kuman Thong (Horror)

In Thailand, there is a myth about the kuman thong, believed to be stillborn fetuses that possess the power to bring good fortune to those who worship or venerate them. When Clara, a mother of two, loses her son to a tragedy, she is visibly distraught and devastated. In her desperate search to undo the tragedy that has befallen her family, she learns of the kuman thong and seeks its powers. However, things soon take a turn for the worse, and even scarier events start to unfold.

"Kuman Thong" is written and directed by actor Xian Lim.

Meet the Cast: Cindy Miranda plays Clara, the bereaved mother, while Thai actor Max Nattapol Diloknawarit plays the role of Sai Chon, her fiancé.

That Kind of Love (Romantic Comedy)

As a love coach, Mila excels at making love happen and leaves no stone unturned in her mission to ensure there is one less lonely soul in the world. Then she meets Adam De Dios, a corporate executive who confidently declares himself "Mr. Perfect." Adam challenges Mila to find him a match, but as she puts on her love coach hat and rises to the challenge, she begins to wonder if it’s her own lonely soul she's trying to soothe.

"That Kind of Love" premiered at the recently concluded Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival, held in May in Nagoya, Japan.

Meet the Cast: Barbie Forteza stars as Mila Maharlika, the love coach extraordinaire, while David Licauco plays the handsome, wealthy, yet conceited Adam De Dios. This marks the first film for Team BarDa, whose chemistry first blossomed during their pairing in the historical fantasy series "Maria Clara at Ibarra."

Longlegs (Thriller)

Set in the 90s, "Longlegs" follows FBI agent Lee Harker as she tries to solve the cases surrounding the Satanic serial killer known as Longlegs. In her investigation, she uncovers complex and occult evidence that reveals a personal link between her and the killer. As the stakes rise, Agent Harker races against time to prevent another murder, one that might hit closer to home.

"Longlegs" is directed by American actor, screenwriter, and director Oz Perkins. Audiences might remember him as David Kidney in the 2001 film "Legally Blonde," starring Reese Witherspoon. Perkins also directed "Gretel & Hansel," a dark fantasy horror film released in 2020. "Longlegs" is his fourth directorial project and is already earning praise as one of the best serial killer films in recent memory, with some comparing it to the genius of "The Silence of the Lambs."

Meet the Cast: Maika Monroe ("It Follows," "Watcher") stars as FBI agent Lee Harker, while Nicolas Cage ("Con Air," "Face/Off," "National Treasure") plays the sinister serial killer Longlegs.

Twisters (Action, Thriller)

Tyler Owens, known as the "Tornado Wrangler," is a social media star who chases storms for content. Meanwhile, meteorologists Javi and Kate are in Oklahoma testing new technology designed to better understand tornadoes. When a massive tornado threatens Oklahoma once again, the trio joins forces in their storm-chasing pursuit, despite their differing beliefs and approaches.

"Twisters" is a sequel to the 1996 film "Twister." While both films feature tornadoes wreaking havoc in the south-central region of the US, their similarities end there. The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, known for writing "The Revenant," and the film is directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the award-winning director of "Minari."

Meet the Cast: Glen Powell ("Top Gun: Maverick," “Anyone But You”) plays the "Tornado Wrangler," Tyler Owens. Daisy Edgar-Jones (“Normal People,” “Where the Crawdads Sing”) stars as meteorologist Kate Cooper.

Deadpool & Wolverine (Action, Adventure)

Wade WIlson left his mercenary days behind and settled into a normal life—that is until the Time Variance Authority (a bureaucratic organization existing outside of time and space that monitors the timeline) forces him out of retirement. He had no choice but to suit up once again, and partner up with an equally hesitant Wolverine, to embark on a mission that will alter the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is the third installment in the Deadpool series and the first to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Meet the Cast: Ryan Reynolds (“Deadpool,” “The Proposal”) reprises his role as the wisecracking Deadpool, teaming up with Hugh Jackman's (“Les Misérables,” “The Greatest Showman”) Wolverine to save the world—and by extension, the MCU. Emma Corrin (“The Crown,” “A Murder at the End of the World”) stars as the villainous Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen (“Succession”) appears as the TVA agent, Paradox.
