If June set the bar high, July is clearing it entirely. SM Cinema's lineup this month spans supernatural horror, Disney magic, one of the most ambitious epics in cinema history, beloved animated adventure, and the return of Marvel's most iconic web-slinger. Whether you are mapping out family day ideas in SM, looking for indoor date ideas in Metro Manila, or simply searching for things to do in SM this weekend, July has you covered. This is your gala to the max month, and it opens on day one.

Leviticus (SM Exclusive)

Genre: Horror / Romance

Cast: Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, Mia Wasikowska, Jeremy Blewitt, Ewen Leslie

Rating: R-16

After premiering in the Midnight section of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and landing one of the festival's biggest distribution deals, Leviticus arrives at SM Cinema as an exclusive. Written and directed by Australian debut filmmaker Adrian Chiarella, the film follows two teenage boys tormented by a violent supernatural entity that takes the form of the person each boy desires most. Set within a tightly wound religious community, the horror is deeply personal: less about jump scares, more about dread, identity, and the terrifying idea that desire itself can be weaponized against you. It holds a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 83 on Metacritic, making it one of the most acclaimed genre films of the year.

Moana (Available in 2D, IMAX, and Screen X)

Genre: Musical / Adventure / Fantasy

Cast: Catherine Laga'aia, Dwayne Johnson, John Tui, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen
Rating: PG

Disney's live-action reimagining of the beloved 2016 animated classic follows Moana, a young woman from the island of Motunui who answers the ocean's call and voyages beyond the reef to restore prosperity to her people, with the demigod Maui by her side.

Catherine Laga'aia steps into the title role in her film debut, with Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui. Directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail, the film features an original score by Grammy-winner Mark Mancina, with songs by Mancina, Opetaia Foa'i, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, including a brand-new number written for this version. With sweeping ocean vistas and a soundtrack built to fill a room, this is one that rewards the biggest, most immersive screen you can find — available in IMAX and Screen X at SM Cinema. It is the kind of film that earns a full day out: catch the movie, browse the mall shopping stores, and wind down with a meal at the food court.

The Odyssey (Available in 2D and IMAX)

Genre: Epic Action / Adventure / Fantasy

Cast: Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal

Rating: R-13

Christopher Nolan's follow-up to his Oscar-winning Oppenheimer is his most ambitious film yet, and it was made for IMAX. Shot entirely on IMAX cameras across Greece, Sicily, Iceland, Morocco, and Scotland, The Odyssey follows Odysseus (Matt Damon), the legendary king of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the decade-long Trojan War: past the Cyclops, the Sirens, and the nymph Calypso (Charlize Theron), while his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) wait back home. Zendaya plays the goddess Athena and Lupita Nyong'o appears as Helen of Troy.

Nolan shot over two million feet of film and spent four months at sea during production. Universal called it a "once-in-a-generation cinematic masterpiece." Seeing it in anything less than IMAX at SM Cinema would be doing it a disservice. For anyone looking for where to watch movies in Manila on the biggest screen possible, this is the one.

Doraemon The Movie: Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil (SM Exclusive)

Genre: Animated Adventure / Family
Cast: Megumi Ohara, Yumi Kakazu, Subaru Kimura, Tomokazu Seki, Akiko Yajima

Rating: G

The 45th Doraemon feature film is a loving remake of the 1983 classic, arriving as an SM exclusive. When the gang cannot agree on summer vacation plans, Doraemon suggests camping in the middle of the ocean. What starts as a lighthearted underwater adventure turns serious when they are taken captive by the Mu Federation, a hidden civilization beneath the waves, just as the ominous Devil's Rock Castle begins to move and threatens the fate of the Earth. The 2026 remake fleshes out every plot beat of the original with care, and it topped the Japanese box office for six consecutive weeks. For family-friendly malls in the Philippines, this is the month's most wholesome pick and a perfect excuse for a family bonding day at SM.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (Available in 2D and Screen X)

Genre: Action / Adventure / Superhero

Cast: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando

Rating: PG

Four years after erasing himself from the memories of everyone he loved, Peter Parker is living alone and fighting crime full-time as an anonymous Spider-Man. When a strange trail of crimes pulls him into a mystery larger than anything he has faced before, he also begins experiencing an unsettling physical transformation he cannot control. Tom Holland is joined by Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, with Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, and Sadie Sink in a role being kept tightly under wraps. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day is street-level, personal, and emotionally grounded in a way the previous films could not always afford to be. Round up the barkada, because this one is a full event.

Minions & Monsters (Available in 2D, IMAX, and Screen X)

Genre: Animated Comedy / Family

Cast: Pierre Coffin, Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Bridges, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan

Rating: PG

If you missed it when it opened in June, Minions & Monsters is still showing at SM Cinema and absolutely worth catching before it wraps up. Set in 1920s Hollywood, the film follows the Minions as they stumble their way into the silent film industry, quickly becoming the toast of Tinseltown with their gift for slapstick. But when the arrival of talking pictures ends their run of fame, Minion James hatches a plan to reclaim the spotlight by making a monster movie. The only problem? The monster they summon, Goomi, turns out to be very real, very destructive, and not exactly cooperative. What follows is pure, gleeful chaos as the Minions race to save Hollywood, and the rest of the planet, from the mayhem they created.

Critics are calling it the best entry in the franchise since the original Despicable Me, and the old Hollywood references and slapstick energy make it just as fun for adults as it is for kids. Catch it in Screen X at SM Cinema for a viewing experience that wraps the action around you on three screens.
