BIRTH CERTIFICATE
What’s it for: A basic requirement for Filipinos of all ages, this document is a must-have at all times as it confirms your basic personal information: your name, age, birthday, birthplace, and parents, as well as the legitimacy of your citizenship. You can use this when applying to school, for work, as well as for obtaining other government IDs.

NBI CLEARANCE
What’s it for: Valid only for six months to a year, this clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) proves that you are a citizen of good standing, with no previous or existing criminal charges under your name. That said, it’s a mandatory pre-employment requirement and may also be needed in the processing of other government documents.
How and where to get it: All you need to do is fill out and file an application online before visiting an NBI service outlet at SM Supermalls. PASSPORT
What’s it for: This travel document is issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to certify the holder’s identity and nationality for the primary purpose of international travel. It counts as a valid ID, too!

DRIVER’S LICENSE (RENEWAL)
What’s it for: Perhaps one of the most important IDs for city dwellers, your driver’s license is pretty much your ticket to everywhere—if you’re driving, that is. Make sure your license stays up-to-date and not expired unless you want to be slapped a fine of up to P3,000 by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

POSTAL ID
What’s it for: The improved postal ID from the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is the most efficient proof of residence and identity. This identification card protects you from identity fraud and serves as a convenient supplementary ID for transactions.

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
What’s it for: Aside from being a binding contract and proof of your marriage, this document is also helpful when entering into legal and financial transactions as a couple or as a married individual. It’s especially useful for women as it confirms one’s identity after changing surnames post-marriage.

CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE (CENOMAR)
What’s it for: All the single ladies (and guys), put your hands up! Also known as the Certificate of Singleness, the Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR) is a document issued by PSA that certifies an individual’s civil status as single. It’s usually required prior to marriage—to prove that you and your fiancé are not hitched to anyone else!

UNIFIED MULTI-PURPOSE IDENTIFICATION (UMID)
What’s it for: The Unified Multi-Purpose Identification card is used to transact with the Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG Fund. Those employed in private companies can course their UMID application via SSS. First-time applicants can get the UMID for free.

PAG-IBIG Loyalty Card
What’s it for: The Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card primarily functions as a cash card where you can receive your Pag-IBIG proceeds, savings dividends, and other benefits. It’s also a rewards card where you can enjoy discounts on groceries, tuition, restaurants, and more from over 300-partner establishments.
How and where to get it: Submit a Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus Application Form (HQP-PFF-108) along with a photocopy of one valid identification (ID) card. Requirements: Filled-out Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus Application Form (HQP-PFF-108) and a photocopy of a valid identification card. The valid ID must be presented for verification.
PRC CARD (RENEWAL)
What’s it for: The Professional Regulation Commission license ID serves as proof that you are a registered professional who can practice your profession in the Philippines. This card is also honored as a form of valid government ID.
How and where to get it: Head over to https://online.prc.gov.ph to register online, upload your ID, and choose Renewal for the transaction. Fill out the fields with your details then choose the PRC regional office/satellite office where you will submit your documents and the branch where you will claim your new PRC ID. Select the payment option then print your accomplished Application for Professional Identification Card document. Bring the requirements on your scheduled appointment. Requirements: Printout of Application for Professional Identification Card, copy of your payment, one passport-size photo in white background with full name tag, CPD (Continuing Professional Development) units earned, and additional requirements depending on your profession.
TIEZA TRAVEL TAX
What’s it for: The travel tax is a levy for those who are leaving the Philippines for travel to another country. Travelers can pay their travel tax in advance at satellite TIEZA Travel Tax Counters, so they don’t have to line up at the airport on the day of their flight.
How and where to get it: You can pay for your upcoming flight’s travel tax at any TIEZA Travel Tax Counter in SM Supermalls. POEA OVERSEAS EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATE/BALIK MANGGAGAWA
What’s it for: The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) issues the Overseas Employment Certificate as an exit pass for Overseas Filipino Workers, and which will serve as exemption for OFWs to pay for the travel tax and airport fees. This applies to a worker who is on vacation or on leave from employment, a rehire, or a Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) registered worker.
How and where to get it: Register and log in at www.bmonline.ph, fill out the form with your details and select Acquire OEC, select your preferred POEA office for the appointment, then print the document.
