The 2019 Sustainable Business Awards Special Recognition, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals was awarded to SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SMPHI), for its active effort in involving stakeholders through its global goal-oriented initiatives.
SMPHI is the Secretariat of the Philippine Network of United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies (UNDRR ARISE); It is represented by the sole Filipino Global Board Member, Hans T. Sy, SM Prime’s Chairman of the Executive Committee.
SM Prime’s initiatives support the Sendai Framework for Disaster-Risk Reduction that addresses the sustainable development goals to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, and resilient (Goal No. 11), and taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (Goal No. 13).
The Sustainable Business Awards is organized by Singapore-based Global Initiatives to increase awareness of sustainable business practices and how it benefits companies, the environment, and all stakeholders.
