Maybe it’s the nostalgia attached to familiar meals or the feel-good taste that’s scientifically proven to light up the reward system in the brain. Whatever reasons you have for your current hankering, what’s clear is that you deserve to indulge a little especially during these times.
Feeling hungry already? Here are some Pinoy snacks that you can order while in quarantine—and yes, you don’t have to step out of the house! (If you prefer ice-cold treats, you can also check here.) Just call the SM Customer Care hotlines for easy pickup and delivery via 8876-1111, 0917-876-1111 or 0908-876-1111. Let’s get eating!
Champorado
This sweet rice porridge isn’t just for breakfast; you can have it all day! Get your fix from Little Flour (P260), which is made with 61% dark French chocolate couverture for that rich, chocolatey flavor in every spoonful. It’s then topped with whipped cream and comes with milk on the side, too! Perfect for those who like their champorado really creamy!

Ensaymada with Queso de Bola
Remember how comforting it was to have your meals at any of Mary Grace Cafe’s branches? Fret not, you can still enjoy their well-loved goods at home. Their ensaymada (P128/piece)—which happens to be the brand’s first product ever—is made with 100% real butter and eggs, and is topped with a generous amount of grated Edam Cheese. It’s deceptively light that you might just end up having more than one piece of this delicate, buttery pastry. Pro tip: pair it with their hot chocolate, which now comes in a bottle, too!

Ginataang Bilo-Bilo
Unlike most ginataan versions out there, Kuya J’s ginataan (P110) uses ube bilo-bilo instead of the plain ones. These chewy balls add another layer of sweetness to the bowl, alongside the sweetened banana, kamote, and sago that comes in each serving. To balance it all out, it comes with langka and toasted pinipig as toppings for a play of textures.

Bibingkang Galapong of Salted Egg
There’s no need to wait for Christmas before having your fill of holiday favorites like bibingka. At Manam, you can enjoy their fluffy take on the sweet rice cake with salted egg slices and grated coconut shavings (P98/piece)—it’s a medley of textures like no other. If you feel like venturing out of your comfort zone, their twists to the bibingka are also worth a try: Take your pick from the Bibingka Ube (P140) or Bibingka de Leche (P145).

Goto Special
What else could be your go-to on a long day of work-from-home than goto? You can conveniently get your fix from Goto King, which also has plenty of branches across the Metro and can deliver, too. Their tasty Goto Special (P105) comes with beef tripe strips, boiled egg slices, spring onions, fried garlic, and chicharon bits for some crunch. Even when it’s not a rainy day, you can never go wrong with a filling bowl of rice porridge.

Ube Ensaymada Hugs
While getting a hug from loved ones might not be feasible by now, here's another kind of hug that may also bring you comfort: Goldilocks' Ube Ensaymada Hugs (P120/6-piece pack). This bite-size version of their ensaymada brings sweet ube flavor in brioche that is then topped with creamed butter, sugar, and grated cheese. Definitely a must-try treat especially for those who were caught up in the ube-cheese trend.

Turrones Sample Platter
Satisfy your sweet tooth with a crunchy treat! Enter Reyes Barbecue's Turrones Sample Platter (P180), where you get two kinds of crispy fried pastry wraps with Pinoy-favorite fillings: Ube Keso and Macapuno Langka Turrones. And did we mention that it's topped off with caramel sauce? It's the way to go for those who like their merienda sweet, bursting with textures, and with a twist.

Bulalugaw
Sure, you can always go for lugaw, which is comforting as it is. But if you're after a different kind of rice porridge, don't miss Max's Restaurant's Bulalugaw (P217). As the name is a portmanteau of "lugaw" and "bulalo," you get lugaw that’s topped with bulalo meat and bone marrow, adding some lip-smacking goodness to an otherwise ordinary porridge. Each serving comes with fried tofu, boiled eggs, and spring onions.

At Mesa, you get leche flan that's not like your usual. But as they say, appearances can be deceiving—in a good way, in this case. See, their Crispy Leche Flan (P70) is served like turon, all wrapped up in spring roll wrapper and drizzled with caramel. But hey, it works! It won’t be a surprise if you end up finishing this crispy, custardy treat in a flash.

Pancit Efuven
Noodles are common merienda options, but if you’re on the lookout for something that’s a bit different, why not try Bacolod Chicken Inasal’s crispy version of the pancit efuven (P199)? The egg noodles are said to be the Ilonggos’ take on the linguine and are often compared to pancit canton. In this dish, you get to enjoy some crunch alongside stir-fried vegetables and meat as toppings.
