Heritage met play at Ternocon: Palaro, where Filipino fashion took center stage atop the FIFA-certified MOA Sky Football Pitch in a one-of-a-kind celebration of artistry, culture, and creativity. The event brought together SM Supermalls, Bench, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) in a dynamic collaboration that redefined how Filipinos experience fashion and heritage.

At the FIFA-certified MOA Sky Football Pitch in Ternocon, Palaro celebrated Filipino creativity, culture, and fashion in motion. Tan, Bench CEO and Founder Ben Chan, SM Supermalls Assistant Vice President for Special Events and Leasing Hanna Carinna T. Sy, and Regional Operations Head Perkin O.

A Celebration of Culture, Creativity, and Community

Now on its third staging with SM Supermalls, The Ternocon Special Edition continues to honor Filipino identity through contemporary Filipiniana (kimona, terno, barong), while inspiring a new generation of designers and audiences. This year’s theme, “Palaro,” celebrated movement, diversity, and the joy of creative expression, all captured through bold, athletic-inspired Filipiniana designs that married tradition with playfulness.

In partnership with Bench and the CCP, SM Supermalls transformed the FIFA-certified MOA Sky Football Pitch into an open-air runway, demonstrating how Filipino artistry can thrive in unexpected spaces.

“SM has always been about creating spaces where culture comes alive, and Ternocon 2025 at the MOA Sky Pitch is the perfect stage for that,” said SM Supermalls President Steven Tan. “Our continued partnership with Bench and CCP shows SM’s commitment to evolving local artistry and bringing it closer to the public.”

The Designers: Modern Visionaries of the Terno

Ternocon Palaro featured six trailblazing Filipino designers who pushed creative boundaries while paying homage to Filipiniana clothing. Each collection was inspired by the theme of play, reinterpreting Filipino identity with a contemporary flair.

Renz Reyes

Jo Ann Bitagcol

Carl Jan Cruz

This year’s lineup featured six visionary designers who brought fresh perspectives to Filipiniana. Hannah Adrias reimagined Filipiniana through 1980s-inspired silhouettes, while Glyn Alley Magtibay’s Intramurals captured the energy of school sports with indigenous textures. Jo Ann Bitagcol blended nostalgia and ease in Liga, and Len Cabili of Filip+Inna paid tribute to the country’s love for basketball in Basketball Parabola. Renz Reyes redefined traditional garments into sleek, sport-inspired forms, while Carl Jan Cruz transformed found pieces and archival Bench shirts into playful expressions of Filipino creativity.

Together, their works embodied the core message of Ternocon: that Filipino fashion can be elegant yet energetic, traditional yet modern, and always proudly homegrown.

A Landmark Venue for Filipino Artistry

Set atop one of the country’s most innovative venues, the MOA Sky Football Pitch is the first FIFA-certified football field built on a retail complex in the Philippines. Its transformation into a fashion runway reflected SM’s Bold New Era of reinvention and relevance, embodying the “All for You” philosophy through experiences that celebrate Filipino talent and unite communities in fresh, inspiring ways.

“It’s the only place where you can watch fashion walk on the same ground where athletes play,” Tan added. “That’s the kind of creativity and versatility we celebrate at SM.”

Fashion, Play, and Filipino Pride

With “Palaro” as its central theme, this year’s Ternocon Special Edition became a vibrant showcase of Filipino diversity, celebrating craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural pride. The athletic-inspired ternos reflected the strength, adaptability, and playfulness of Filipinos both on and off the runway.

Ternocon Special Edition highlights the beauty of Filipino design through creativity, craftsmanship, and heart. With SM Supermalls, Bench, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines coming together, the event brings heritage to life in a way that feels fresh, modern, and relevant—proving that while style may evolve, the Filipino spirit will always shine through.

Continuing the Legacy of Filipino Design

Ternocon Palaro marks another milestone in SM Supermalls’ journey to champion Filipino creativity. From “Paskong Ternocon” at SM Aura to “Kasarinlan, Kultura, Kasuotan” at the Museo del Galeón, and now “Palaro” at the MOA Sky Pitch, SM continues to elevate local artistry through powerful partnerships and world-class experiences.

“Filipino creativity deserves the biggest stage,” Tan concluded. “And at SM, that stage is always ready.”
