Need to go somewhere in the North? Do you usually take CAVITEX or SLEX to go home to the South? Here's good news for you! SM Supermalls is providing a faster way to get your RFID sticker tag for safer, contactless payment whenever you need to use tollways and expressways during the pandemic.
In partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Easytrip, and Autosweep, SM is offering free RFID sticker tag installation for a limited time only at different SM malls across Luzon.
This partnership came about after the DOTr announced that it will be requiring expressways to use cashless, contactless payment in tollgates as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 virus which may be indirectly transmitted through contaminated objects and surfaces.
SM Supermalls is the first retail establishment to support the government’s contactless policy.
"We're grateful and honored to be part of this partnership with the Department of Transportation, Easytrip, and Autosweep. We're glad to join hands with them to make availing of the RFID system easier for motorists and to encourage the community to embrace contactless and cashless systems for a safer transactions, in this case, when passing through our super highways," said SM Supermalls president Steven Tan.
With the RFID or Radio Frequency Indication System installed in their vehicles, motorists can simply drive up to the toll booth and pay the toll fees without handing out cash and coins, making the transaction safer and more hygienic. Easytrip is the cashless payment service used at the tollgates on CAVITEX, C5 Link, CALAX, NLEX, and SCTEX, while Autosweep is used on SLEX, SKYWAY, NAIAX, STARTOLL, TPLEX, and MCX.
Through the partnership, motorists will be able to activate RFIDs for their vehicles at select SM malls in three simple steps. All they have to do is register at the assigned booths, load their accounts, and install the RFID sticker on their cars.
Motorists who would like to get their EasyTrip RFID may visit SM Megamall from 7 to 13; SM Mall of Asia, SM Aura, and SM Pampanga from September 17 to 20; SM Southmall, SM Sta. Rosa, and SM Clark from September 24 to 27; and SM Dasmariñas, SM Aura, SM Sta. Rosa, and SM Telabastagan from October 29 to November 1. EasyTrip booths are open from 10am to 5pm.
On the other hand, those who like to register for an Autosweep RFID may visit SM Southmall from September 11 to 13; SM Bicutan from September 12 to 14; SM Megamall and SM Mall of Asia on September 19; and SM Sucat and SM BF Homes from September 25 to 26. Autosweep booths will be open from 10am to 5pm.
