Some trips are planned months ahead. Others just fall perfectly into place. Our two-day Panagbenga adventure in Baguio was the latter. It was colorful, spontaneous, and honestly bigger, bolder, and more unforgettable than expected
We've been to Baguio before. The usual pine trees, ube jam haul, strawberry picking situation. But Panagbenga season at SM City Baguio? Completely different energy. Two days, a feast of flavors, and more cultural moments than I could fit on my camera roll.

And if you’re looking for a sign to book that Panagbenga trip for next year, this is it.
Day 1: Food First, then Festival Finds
We pulled into Baguio at 10 AM and made a beeline for Vizco's. If you haven't been, please add it to your mall directory mental list immediately.

Comfort food done right at Vizco’s: Chicken Fillet in Sauce Bercy (left) and Chicken Pesto Pasta (right)
We ordered the Chicken Fillet in Sauce Bercy and Chicken Pesto Pasta, both of which gave elevated comfort food. The kind that makes you close your eyes mid-bite.

Vizco’s is known for their Strawberry Shortcake, but we ended the meal with a Strawberry French Macaron and a Strawberry Cheesecake because we were going all out from the jump.

After lunch, we explored the Panagbenga exhibits around the mall. One of the most fascinating was the Mangwhawhato’ of the Cordillera showcase. Traditional tattoo artists demonstrated ancestral designs, each one carrying stories of identity, bravery, and heritage. It was an unforgettable experience, one that felt less like a mall hangout and more like living Cordilleran history.

Just a few steps away was the Fashion Designers Show & Exhibit, where local designers reinterpreted traditional Cordilleran patterns into modern silhouettes. Woven accents appeared in sleek dresses and jackets. It is proof that heritage fashion can absolutely be leveled up.
No travel day is complete without merienda, so we stopped by James Wright Cafe. The café had a relaxed Baguio vibe, making it a great stop if you want to rest, upload photos, or check the mall directory for upcoming mall events happening around the complex.

Plus, their creampuffs and the white chocolate mocha was the sugar we needed to fuel the rest of our day.

The Cordilleran Artists' "Blooming with Hue: Floriography" exhibit by the Pasakalye Group was our next stop. Gorgeous flower-themed artworks that gave full gallery energy. Honestly one of the best indoor date ideas we've stumbled into, whether you're solo or with someone worth impressing.

The Green Garden Salad (left) at Hill Station Bistro is super fresh, the perfect precursor
to the Sisig Palabok (ight) that was served next.
Dinner at Hill Station Bistro wrapped things up right. Green Garden Salad, Sisig Palabok, and Gising Gising Kangkong with just enough kick. A solid close to an already maxed-out day 1.

Hill Station Bistro’s Gising Gising Kangkong will surely heat up your chilly Baguio trip but their comforting desserts, like this cookie, will also make you feel right at home.
Day 2: The Grand Floral Float Parade

The next morning started early for the biggest highlight of the festival: the Grand Floral Float Parade. Fresh blooms, intricate designs, floats carrying full cultural narratives through the streets, it's the kind of things to do that puts the Philippines on a whole different level.
The SM Prime Holdings float hit especially hard. The rear of the float depicted broken stone structures referencing the 1990 earthquake, while the center featured Mother Nature seated above the rice terraces. It is a powerful reminder of resilience and renewal.

Is it even a Baguio stop without the famous Raisin Bread from the Baguio Country Club?
This and their mini cakes are the perfect cure to your sweet tooth.

These pastries from L’Atelier Du Grain are enough to transport you to the marvelous streets of Paris with just a single bite!
After the parade crowds thinned out, we grabbed a late breakfast at the Baguio Country Club and L’Atelier Du Grain in SM City Baguio, a cozy spot for pastries and good ol’ coffee. Meanwhile, lunch at Tim Ho Wan was a full gala.

Tim Ho Wan dishes are always spot-on, but their flavored teas make any dish both equally refreshing.
Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Stir Fried Soya Sauce Noodles, Marinated Pork Chop, steamed and fried dimsum platters—we went all the way and had no regrets whatsoever. Not to be missed are their selection of flavored teas where every sip is totally refreshing. You can choose from Rose Lychee Black Tea, White Peach Oolong, and Ginseng Oolong—or get all three, just like we did! Tim Ho Wan in Baguio weather is a different kind of blessing.

The Costume Parade in the afternoon turned the entire mall into a stage. Dancers were in colorful outfits performing traditional routines to rhythmic music. The mall atrium turned into a stage celebrating Cordilleran heritage, one of the most energetic mall events of the weekend.

The Wood Carvers Exhibit and Traditional Weaving Workshop rounded out the afternoon. Watching artisans work live makes you genuinely appreciate the craft. Some of us tried weaving and we all thought that it's harder than it looked. Watching the transformation from plain wood and strings to detailed artwork made the craftsmanship even more impressive.

Sinfully good, the Classic Cheeseburger and the Grilled Cheeseburger from Zark’s are favorites for a reason!
Zark's Burger closed out the trip the only way it should: Mozza Crunch, Classic Cheeseburger, Grilled Cheeseburger. There was no holding back, only munching and satisfying our cravings ‘til the very end. It was the perfect send-off to a trip that leveled up my entire benchmark for festival weekends.
SM City Baguio during Panagbenga isn't just a convenient base. It becomes part of the celebration! The mall events are curated, the food scene covers everything from snack runs to full sit-down dinners, and the cultural programming inside genuinely matches the energy of the whole city. Family day, solo content trip, or indoor date ideas with actual substance, Baguio during Panagbenga delivers above and beyond!
Next year, if you’re visiting Baguio for Panagbenga, my advice is simple: come hungry. Bring your camera. And go all out!
