Staying healthy is the real flex these days. A balanced diet, managing your stress, and squeezing in a workout are basically the cheat codes to keeping your body in check. But let's be real—finding time to work out is tough, especially when life’s so hectic.

It’s totally valid! We are, after all, living busy lives. We’re all hustling—whether it’s school, work, or the endless list of things we gotta handle every day. Weekdays are packed, and weekends? Well, they’re for catching up on everything else.

Here at SM Supermalls, we value the health and wellness of our shoppers. We’re all about making your life easier, and that includes your health goals. So, while you’re getting your shopping and dining fix, we’ve also made it super easy for you to stay active. SM Malls is home to plenty of fitness centers, but guess what? We’re also bringing outdoor activities to the malls, so you can enjoy them right within SM!

Check out these fun, calorie-burning outdoor activities you can dive into at SM!

Ice Skating

Let’s kick off this list with a classic: ice skating! SM has long been known for its ice skating rinks, and it’s certainly a must-try.Back in the day, people would skate on frozen lakes and rivers during winter, even using it as a way to get around. While some people somewhere in the world still commute to places via skates, ice skating now is mostly about fun, sport, or exercise—no need to wait for snow! Thanks to indoor rinks, you can glide across the ice all year round, even in tropical spots like the Philippines.

SM Megamall was the first in the country to open an ice rink back in 1992. Now, SM Mall of Asia and SM Seaside City Cebu also have their own rinks, perfect for anyone who wants to unleash their inner Elsa or Anna. Plus, SM Skating is home to the national Figure Skating and Ice Hockey teams. Pretty cool, right?

Archery

Archery is another ancient activity with roots in hunting and warfare. Back in the day, our ancestors relied on bows and arrows for survival and defense. However, with the rise of technology—especially gunpowder—archery shifted from being a weapon of war to a recreational and competitive sport. There are three main types of archery: target archery, field archery, and indoor archery. According to the Olympics website, indoor archery is a version of target archery where archers shoot at stationary circular targets over short distances (usually 18 meters) inside a building.

Archery is not only a fun sport but also a great way to stay active while improving both mental and physical strength. It requires intense focus, which sharpens your concentration, and draws on upper body muscles—like your arms, shoulders, chest, and back—helping to build strength.

Here’s the scoop

Ready to channel your inner Katniss Everdeen? You can try your hand at archery at PANA Archery, available in select SM Malls:

At PANA Archery, you can book sessions for either 30 minutes or an hour, with rates starting at PHP 499 per hour. Prices vary by branch and include the use of bows and unlimited arrows. If you have your own gear, you can also rent just the range!

Mini Golf at SM Aura

Golf might have a reputation as a bougie sport for the rich and famous, but honestly, it's a game anyone can enjoy! And with Mini Golf now available at SM Aura, you don’t even need to hit up a fancy golf range to get in on the fun. When playing golf, each shot demands careful planning and focus, which is why this is a game that helps enhance your concentration and patience. Walking around the course and swinging the club gets you moving too, making mini golf a low-impact way to stay active. But the best part is, mini golf is a fun, no-pressure way to hang out with friends or family, making it a great social activity!

Here’s the scoop

Mini Golf is located at the Skypark on Level 5 and is open daily from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. To play, just present single or combined receipts totaling PHP 5,000 from any SM Aura stores, or PHP 2,500 from Skypark establishments.

Bouldering

Bouldering is a type of rock climbing that involves climbing short, yet challenging routes without the use of ropes or harnesses. It is said to have originated in 19th century France, where climbers used small boulders to practice their techniques in preparation for larger climbs. Today, you don’t have to venture outdoors to enjoy the sport; bouldering is primarily done indoors, emphasizing movement across shorter distances. Not only is bouldering fun, but it also offers a full-body workout, engaging multiple muscle groups, including your core, arms, back, and legs. It’s a fantastic way to boost your problem-solving skills, as you need to think strategically and creatively to conquer each route, often referred to as a "problem." Plus, as you tackle these challenges (and maybe face a few falls), you learn the value of mental resilience and build your confidence along the way.

Here’s the scoop

If you’re looking for an intense yet enjoyable bouldering session with friends, head over to Boulder World at Level 3 in the South Entertainment Mall of SM Mall of Asia. They’re open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. First-time climbers can take advantage of a special rate of PHP 850, which includes a one-time registration fee of PHP 200. For regular climbers, the fee is PHP 650, and both rates cover a full day of climbing.

Boulder World features a variety of courses suitable for climbers of all levels, so beginners are more than welcome! They also offer multiple passes and memberships, allowing you to hone your bouldering skills as often as you’d like.

Pro tip: Bring your own climbing shoes, as they have a limited number available for rent. If you need to rent a pair, it’s just PHP 200.m

Pickleball

You may have already spotted it on your feeds, but Pickleball is the hottest new sport taking the country by storm! For those curious about what Pickleball actually is, it’s a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Played on a rectangular court with a net, it uses a solid paddle and a lightweight plastic ball with holes.Pickleball isn’t just fun; it’s also an excellent cardiovascular workout that builds endurance and strength. The fast-paced action improves hand-eye coordination, reflexes, and overall agility. Plus, the smaller court size and lighter equipment make it gentler on the joints compared to other racquet sports, making it suitable for players of all ages and fitness levels.

Here’s the scoop

SM Supermalls is among the early adopters of Pickleball, opening its spaces to create courts across the country. Currently, you can find these courts in 30 SM malls, including SM Seaside City Cebu, SM Center Ormoc, SM City Consolacion, SM City CDO Uptown, SM City Lanang, SM City North Edsa, SM Southmall, and SM Center Antipolo Downtown.

These courts are available for use during mall hours, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure a court, simply register on the SM Malls Online app. Each group can enjoy one hour of play, especially if others are waiting to use the court. Players are encouraged to bring their own rackets and balls and wear appropriate sports attire to ensure they can move freely and avoid any accidents.
