Foldable phones have come a long way since the iconic Motorola RAZR dazzled us with its slim, cutting-edge design. Since then, flip phones are slowly making a comeback. They’ve undergone a major makeover in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and extra features to make sure they’re up-to-date with the latest features, connectivity, and overall user experience.
By the looks of it, these foldable tech wonders are here to stay.
As proof, here are some of the best foldable smartphones that are already out on the market today.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 is by far the best foldable smartphone out in the market today, bar none.
Improving from its predecessor the Galaxy Z Fold 2, it now boasts water resistance with an IPX8 rating and a far more superior screen when it comes to durability. Its 7.6-inch folding display also works well with a lot more apps as Samsung has worked on its app optimization, as well as with publishers and developers to ensure compatibility with its foldable feature.
While its starting price even without the optional S Pen support can still break the bank, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 makes up for it by being the best productivity-boosting device in its line of phones today, especially now that it’s supported by accompanying Samsung’s S Pen. Although you have to pay extra for the pen since it’s not included in the bundle.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 manages to hit the right notes with its bevy of amazing features and improvements.
Taking off from its precursor, the Galaxy Flip 3 is its more durable version with a new and improved cover display. The screen is bigger, has an improved refresh rate, and sports a more streamlined design, complete with bespoke color choices to go with your own unique style. It also bumped its processor to Snapdragon 888.
On the other hand, there’s still a handful of aspect that needs improvement. Particularly its inferior battery life and relatively slow charging, which can pose as a dealbreaker for most power users.

WHY DITCH IT? |
|
Oppo Find N is the brand’s first array into the foldable smartphone department. If anything, this flagship packs pretty much everything you’d want in a flip phone, minus the aggressive price tag.
For one thing, this foldable phone is pocket-friendly… literally and metaphorically. This is where the Find N outshines the rest. It’s got an outstanding hinge system that allows a near-complete seal, as compared to other foldable phones that still leave a small gap in between. However, the Find N doesn’t have a built-in Google Play app. Although it wouldn’t be that big of a deal since users can still sideload. It also lacks the usual IP rating, so it’s best not to use it near the pool or the beach.

WHY DITCH IT? |

The newest of the bunch, Huawei’s Mate Xs 2 has recently commended by a number of industry experts as the sleekest foldable phone up to date—edging out heavyweights like Samsung.
The Mate Xs 2 is a considerable upgrade from its first iteration when it comes to design and functionality. Its 7.8-inch True-Chroma foldable display boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, complete with Smart Multi-Touch Window and One-Tap interaction for a more immersive viewing experience.
Of course, Huawei has still yet to make its peace with the Google ban, Sure, its proprietary HarmonyOS has seen a lot of improvements. Yet it’s far from being near-perfect. This means your favorite apps may still not be available from its AppGallery. It also doesn’t have a 5G yet, so that may otherwise be the biggest compromise.

WHY GET IT?
This list wouldn’t be complete without the brand synonymous with flip phones: The Motorola Razr 2020 edition.
Arguably the purveyor of the clamshell devices, this iconic remake saw a much-needed makeover, overhauling everything from the design aspects down to the functionalities and features. It features a 6.2-inch OLED foldable display with CinemaVision to maintain an excellent viewing experience. It also embraces the latest 5G technology for swift connectivity.
However, the battery life is rather underwhelming, It only utilizes a 2800mAh battery. This is something far too underwhelming, considering most phones of today are equipped with 3500mAh to 4500mAh minimum. Another missed opportunity is the Razr’s flimsy plastic shell, which could have been a kicker since the previous iteration went for a sleeker metal profile. Motorola may still be a little rough around the edges, but it does the best job of reviving its flagship’s glory.
