Designed with you in mind, it empowers communities to conveniently dispose of transparent PET plastic beverage bottles—helping reduce plastic waste while building long-term sustainable habits. 

All collected PET bottles are properly processed and recycled, supporting a circular economy and advancing SM’s commitment to a waste-free future. 

This initiative is part of the SM Green Movement, SM Supermalls’ environmental sustainability platform that inspires communities to adopt greener lifestyles—all for you, and for a greener tomorrow. 

Here’s how you can start making an impact today. 

What You Can Recycle

The SM Green Recycling Machine accepts PET plastic beverage bottles ranging from 500 mL to 2 liters to ensure proper and high‑quality recycling.

Before You Drop Them In
▪   Make sure bottles are empty, clean, and dry. Rinse and dry them first, if needed.
▪  You may leave the hard bottle cap, plastic ring and label attached.

Here are the most common questions to help you get started.

You can recycle as many PET bottles as you want. Insert them one at a time so the machine can detect them properly.

Yes—PET bottles that are empty, clean, and dry are accepted, even if they're from outside the mall.

No. Bottles can be deposited with the caps on.

This usually happens if the bottle is not PET, crumpled, or wet/dirty. Try adjusting or reinserting the bottle, as the machine may not immediately detect lightweight items. If the issue continues, report it at the Mall Admin Office or approach the guard for assistance.

If the machine is full or temporarily unavailable, a message will appear on the screen. You may report it to the nearest mall personnel or security guard.

We do not recommend inserting crushed or flattened bottles. Please insert intact bottles so the machine can properly scan and identify them.

Look for the PET or #1 symbol—usually found at the bottom or back label of the bottle.

No. These should be placed in designated Recyclable (R) bins located around the mall.

No. The GRM is designed only for PET beverage bottles, not food packaging or other plastics.

The collected plastic bottles are crushed, processed, and upcycled into new materials, supporting the SM Green Movement's goal of a circular economy and a waste-free future.

Users can view the number of bottles they have deposited and monitor their accumulated rewards points in real time through the Sparklo app, allowing them to track both recycling contributions and rewards.

No. Bottles are collected and transported for recycling or upcycling by our program partners.

The Green Recycling Machine powered by Hyundai currently does not offer rewards or incentive programs.

Users can earn rewards through the Sparklo app. Simply download and register in the app to collect points for every eligible recyclable deposited. Points can be tracked and redeemed directly through the app.

Recycling activity is not currently tracked, and past deposits cannot be credited toward future rewards programs. Any updates regarding rewards or incentives will be announced once available.

Green Recycling Machine powered by Sparklo
Rewards are tracked through the Sparklo app once your account is registered and linked to the system. Only eligible deposits successfully recorded under your account qualify for rewards. Historical recycling data may be considered in future enhancements, but retroactive crediting is not guaranteed. Any updates will be communicated through official Sparklo channels.
