6 other things to do while shopping for the holidays
by SM Supermalls,  December 08, 2015

Christmas list, check. Holiday ham, check. Yuletide decorations, check. Aside from checking your Christmas list twice, did you know that there are other fabulous sights to see and loads of fun things to do in the malls this season, on top of shopping?

1. For date night: Check out Leeroy New’s ASTREOPORA Art, Lights, and Music installation

Contemporary artist Leeroy New’s latest project blends a myriad of colors and sounds with the lines and curves of the urban landscape. Known for his eccentric work and unique eye, New continues his theme with creating aquatic forms that mimic nature’s infinite beauty against the Taguig skyline. It’s definitely a sight to see, even better while getting cozy with your special someone.

Check out the Astreopora art, lights, and sound installation at the SM Aura Premier Sky Park starting now till January 10, from 6 to 10 PM with 30-minute intervals.

2. For the kids: Explore the interactive Christmas 3D Art Museum

A unique take on usual Christmas displays, this museum, which is done in partnership with Art in Island, features larger-than-life installations that make little kids feel like they’re on their own little adventure. Whether it’s riding on Santa Claus’ sleigh or walking down the snow-paved roads of North Pole in the winter, the 3D museum is definitely a great place for the little ones to explore and let out their creativity and imagination.

The museum, which is the first holiday-themed 3D art exhibition in the Philippines, is open at the SM Megamall Event Center, Lower Ground Level in Mega A from November 12 to December 31, 2015. Shoppers just need to present a 500-peso minimum purchase receipt from any SM Megamall store to get a discounted admission ticket of only P120.

3. For the barkada: Pull up a mat and watch pyromusical fireworks displays

If you and your friends can’t decide on what to do for a chill night out, just head out to your nearest SM mall and check out their fireworks displays spread out on different dates during this holiday season. It’s a magical, great sight to see, and best of all, it’s free!

Enjoy a magnificent pyromusical experience in the following SM malls on these dates: SM City Rosales on December 19 and 25, SM City Tarlac on December 13,20, and 25, SM City Clark on December 12 and 19, SM City Cebu on December 19, SM City Baliwag on December 18 and 25, and SM City Fairview on December 11, 18, and 25. Visit the SM Supermalls’ Facebook page for a complete schedule of the upcoming pyromusical displays that you can delight in this holiday season.

4. For the date out with tita: Take little nibbles at the Holiday Gourmet Market

Your tita from out-of-town probably wants to buy a few pasalubongs for your cousins abroad. Take her out to the Gourmet Market, where they serve special and unique food items you can’t find in just any store. Most offerings are local, ranging from sweets and pastries, to succulent slabs of Christmas ham perfect for Noche Buena.

The Holiday Gourmet Market will be held at SM City Masinag from December 1 to 12, SM City San Pablo on December 26, and SM North EDSA, SM Center Molino, SM Market Mall Dasmarinas, and SM Cagayan de Oro on all weekends of December.

5. For the antique enthusiast: Take a peek at an extensive Nativity Display

If you’re into old relics and unique antiques, check out Dodit Reyes’ collection of nativity displays at various SM malls in Manila. Her collection contains over 30 figures coming from Egypt, Russia, Germany, the US, Italy, China and more. Take a look at how different countries interpret the nativity. These interesting pieces are great for holiday Instagram posts.

The exhibit is open at SM Sta. Mesa now until December 12 and SM San Lazaro from December 13 to January 2.

6. For the entire family: Watch a Grand Christmas Parade

Families with kids and kids at heart can enjoy the musical spectacle of hundreds of ballerinas, life-sized toy soldiers, elves, giant teddy bears, and brass bands dancing to Christmas songs around SM Malls on the weekends of November and December. Catch the all-star ensemble of holiday characters as they parade at 2PM, 4PM, and 6PM in the following malls: SM Dasmarinas on December 11, SM City Rosario on December 12, SM City Lucena on December 13, SM City Batangas on December 18, SM City San Pablo on December 20, SM City Sta.Rosa on December 22, SM City Bacoor on December 23, and SM Center Molino on December 24.
