Maple Leaf Dreams

Before, for Filipinos, it was the AMERICAN DREAM. Filipinos looking for a better life for their families strive to get to America and find a job there, and eventually become citizens. Now, it’s the CANADIAN DREAM. This generation of Filipinos coming from different parts of the world try to get to Canada through different means to have the benefits the country has to offer. For the past 20 years there has been an influx of Filipinos in Canada through educational and family migration programs. Following the success of On the Wings of Love and other projects and movies like Hello, Love, Goodbye that tackled the lives of OFWs and migrants, we want to bring you the journey of lovers, Molly and Macky and other Filipinos who are fighting to have a place in Canada for the sake of their families. Molly and Macky have been together for a couple of years, they have decent jobs in the Philippines but because of surmounting expenses, they realize that they will not be able to have a good future here. After securing the money they need, Molly applies for a student program to Canada. The plan is for her to study while Macky works to provide for both of them. After Molly graduates, she intends to do the same for Macky. It seems simple but being in another country, with everything new, life will not be easy. We present their suffering from their struggles and their happiness. The pain of being away, of being alone. But in the end, we will also witness how their love and the warmth of home, through our kababayans there, will keep their love alive.
