Batteries from cars, trucks, and power generators are hazardous. The ULAB collection program enables proper recycling and encapsulation of the different parts of the batteries, including its harmful chemicals.
Used Lead Acid Batteries (ULAB) are accepted in the malls during the recycling market on a quarterly basis – March, June, September and December.
ULAB drop offs by customers are coordinated with the mall’s accredited treater and transporter for the cash exchange of P200 per battery unit.
The lead compounds (harmful chemicals) are removed from the batteries and reused. Any plastic parts are also reused while the other materials are for encapsulation. Encapsulation is the final disposal process of placing the material in a sealed container after treatment in a proper disposal facility for the long process of decomposition.
