The love for bicycles runs in Johnny King Jr.’s family. His father used to operate a general merchandise store in Quiapo, Manila, which sold electrical and hardware items and bikes. Later on, Johnny felt that there was a market for shops that sell bikes primarily. Now, even his two daughters are in the business of selling bikes.

“My love for biking started during my elementary days. Biking has helped me to be fit and healthy, and reach different places,” Johnny says.

What started out as a passion has become a source of livelihood for Johnny and a means to help provide employment to other people. Through his business, Johnny was able to afford a good life to his own family and extend opportunities to others.

“God’s blessings were abundant. I was able to send my daughters to exclusive schools. We are also able to diversify and manage two rows of apartment units,” Johnny says.

Bike Plus has grown into 10 branches across Luzon, nine of which can be found in SM malls. “SM has been our partner for two decades now. We are fortunate because it helps us reach more customers and it challenges us to offer high-quality products that shoppers would like,” Johnny says, adding that he makes sure that he employs people from communities where they are present.

“That way, we are able to help provide employment in areas where we are present. It also helps that our employees do not have to travel far to get to work,” he says.
