Art is universal. Despite that, not all of us are given the chance to partake of it.

Art for Everyone, as the name suggests, is an annual event that gives art enthusiasts and virtually anyone the opportunity to immerse in visual arts crafted by homegrown talents. The jamboree’s primary objective is to leverage on arts and culture as a means to reach out and engage the community from childhood to golden age, of all races and from all backgrounds. It promotes cultural awareness in some of the most accessible, most crowded places, the 18 participating SM malls nationwide.

First organized in 2016, the art festival continues its success with this year’s installment that showcases thousands of new and unique paintings, sculptures, and photographs from a curated roundup of local artists, established and emerging alike.

“Art for Everyone 2019 is SM’s way of reaching out to the art-loving public. We want to feature all types of artists and connect them with different audiences, and this includes both student and seasoned artists,” said SM Supermalls SVP for marketing Jonjon San Agustin. “The artworks also inspire a refreshing vibe in the malls as shoppers and their loved ones bond over art.”

The fête hosts a series of exhibitions that vary depending on which mall it is being held at. For instance, SM Megamall’s unveiling of the art fair highlighted a special exhibit in collaboration with Fundacion Sansó. The gallery tells the storied careers and friendship of the late tycoon Henry Sy Sr. and Presidential Medal of Merit Awardee Juvenal “Juvy” Sansó. The grand and salient opening was attended by Felicidad Sy, the wife of SM’s late founder, and Hans Sy, SM Prime chairman of the executive committee.

Meanwhile, as a top destination for art and style, SM Aura Premier is, of course, among the venues where the multi-week celebration is currently held. In fact, the prestigious mall launched an art exhibit called In Full Circle. The upscale shopping center partnered with Galerie Raphael to present 15 exceptional Filipino artists from the gallery’s roster.
