Kids across the country recently gathered at 65 SM Supermalls to celebrate the nationwide Kids' Month Kick-off Party dubbed the #SuperAweSMKidsDay.
"SM Supermalls takes utmost pride in celebrating this awesome Kids' Month with no less than the next generation of leaders and the future of SM, our SM kiddie shoppers," said Jonjon San Agustin, SM Supermalls senior vice president for marketing, during the #SuperAweSMKidsDay Media Launch held at SM City Fairview.
"The awesome deals and fun experiences continue this October, starting off with the nationwide #SuperAweSMKidsDay, followed by the annual United Nations Day and Halloween festivities. We dedicate this month to you with everything that you love to do at SM: play, shop, eat, and win," he said.
Known to be a brand close to every Filipino kid’s heart, San Agustin also recognized the parents who keep the "SM tradition" alive within their families.
"To the parents, we thank you for passing your love for SM to your children. We will forever be grateful to all of you who made SM a part of your family, milestones, and happiest moments. Without a doubt, today will be one of your kids' unforgettable SM moments, and we thank you for making it happen," he said.
Now on its second year, the media launch of #SuperAweSMKidsDay at SM City Fairview was jam-packed with parents and kids who were dressed in different superhero costumes.
The different activities focused on four things that kids enjoy during their mall bonding time with their families – play, shop, eat, and win.
Installed at the venue were an indoor trampoline, kiddie rides, inflatable slides, and virtual reality play stations.
If one was up for shopping and eating, there were partner shops that displayed select merchandise on sale as well as sugary treats that are well loved by kids.
GUESTS AND PERFORMERS
The event was star-studded with the appearances of some of the most popular celebrity parents on social media, namely award-winning broadcast journalist Niña Corpuz who came with daughters Stella and Emily; actresses Melissa Ricks and Helga Krapf with their daughters Kiera Kelly and Amelie, respectively; acoustic singer and ASAP Sessionista Princess Velasco with son Kobe; and the guys of Team Kramer, Doug and Gavin.
Also gracing the event were celebrity kiddie achievers including child actress Xia Vigor, World Championships of Performing Arts champions Nhikzy Calma and Gaea Salipot, "Team Yey" stars Yesha Camile and Marcus Cabais, and SM Little Stars 2018 winners led by grand winners Aleynah Redillas and Satriani Acot.
Wrapping up the fun-filled program were dance and song performances from kids' well-loved characters, and the ceremonial launch of the #AweSM Kids' Month highlighted by a prize-filled balloon drop with a shower of confetti, enough to delight the young and the young at heart.
AFFINITY FOR CHILDREN
No doubt, it was a grand kick-off celebration for kids. And for San Agustin, it was all worth it when they saw the happiness etched on the children’s faces.
"In particular, kids are very special to the heart of SM Supermalls. Children are very close to the family of Mr. Henry Sy. There's a different kind of happiness in seeing children smiling. Probably because children are pure in emotions. When they smile, you know that it comes from the heart. You are able to trigger an emotion in them that can last a lifetime," he said.
He also shared their philosophy: "We always say in SM Supermalls, one of the things that we love to do is to make people happy. When we walk around, we tell tenants, 'all you have to do is make someone smile.'"
It seems SM Supermalls knows how to add value to the shopping experience. By putting customers' needs first and providing excellent customer service, the 60-year-old mall brand is living out its slogan "we've got it all for you."
