THE SM Foundation has turned over newly renovated facilities and equipment to the Philippine Military Academy's (PMA) Fort Del Pilar Station Hospital recently.

Connie Angeles, SM Foundation Executive Director for Health and Medical Programs, turned over the hospital's operating and delivery rooms and cadet/officers ward. SM also donated medical equipment and supplies to PMA officials led by Superintendent Lieutenant General Oscar Lopez.

Lopez said the hospital was accredited as a Level 2 hospital by the Department of Health but was downgraded to Level 1 last year due to the condition of its operating and delivery rooms.

He hopes that with the renovation and refurbishment of the facilities done by SM, the hospital will be returned to Level 2.

Angeles said the foundation will also take care of the maintenance of the hospital.

Last year, SM Foundation also refurbished the Air Force General Hospital at Villamor Airbase, Basa Air Base Station Hospital OPD, Fort Magsaysay Station Hospital, AFP Medical Center Heroes Ward, Naval Special Operations Group Clinic, Fernando Air Base Station Hospital, Air Force City Hospital and Camp Aguinaldo Station Hospital OPD.

Earlier this year, SM and Banco de Oro foundations turned over a renovated rural health facility to the municipal government of La Trinidad.

The Foundation was established in 1983 by SM founders Henry Sy Sr. and Felicidad T. Sy.(Redjie Melvic Cawis)
