#AWESM GRANNIES. Celebrity grandparents Dina Bonnevie and Eddie Gutierrez share how SM Supermalls has been a second home to their families, especially to their grandchildren who love to shop, play and bond with them in their favorite spots in the mall.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Wala kayo sa Lolo (at Lola) ko! — Who isn’t familiar with the quintessential line Filipinos use to brag how cool their grandparents are? Their stories of fantastic bygone eras would always fascinate us. In our eyes, they are living heroes who inspire us with their life stories. Their priceless pieces of advice also help us weigh options, thanks to their wisdom that came with age.

It is fitting then that our Lolos and Lolas get a day they can enjoy. This weekend, SM Supermalls celebrates Grandparents Day in all its 70 malls nationwide, where families can spend bonding time with their elders under one roof.

Celebrity granddad Eddie Gutierrez (fondly called by his grandkids as “Baba”) agrees that going to the mall makes bonding time with his grandkids more convenient and fun. “My grandchildren — they enjoy going to SM because they can do and enjoy a lot of things,” he said during the launch of SM Supermalls’ Grandparents’ Day.

September 9 is #GrandparentsDayAtSM2018. SM executives with the lead star in SM’s Grandparents’ Day video Rolly Macatangay and celebrity grandparents Eddie Gutierrez and Dina Bonnevie.

Gutierrez said he would often lose track of time in the sporting section of SM. He added that family activities also fit in well with their needs — he does not have to go farther when watching a movie and eating after because the food court and the cinemas are on the same floor.

Actress Dina Bonnevie or “Mama D” to her grandchildren, another satisfied SM mallgoer, also shared the joy of being a grandmother. Being a stone’s throw away from their Church, SM, she said, is accessible to them and lives to its tagline, “We’ve got it all for you.”

“We hear mass at Victory and from there, diretso na SM Aura [we go straight to SM Aura], we have dinner. Then after dinner, I know na [my grandson would say], ‘Mama D, let’s go to Toy Kingdom,” she said.

Her granddaughters, on the other hand, would make lambing to her. “I saw a nice dress, Mama D. I want one Mama D,” Bonnevie said, mimicking her granddaughter’s voice.

Like Gutierrez and Bonnevie, your grandparents can also enjoy fun activities this weekend at SM Supermalls.

“This Grandparents' Day, we have prepared fun activities and treats that pay tribute to the unconditional love of our beloved grandparents. We have shopping discounts, dining promos, and different grand entertainment in 70 SM malls across the country,” said Jonjon San Agustin, SM Supermalls senior vice president for marketing.

Watch heart-tugging performances by talented apos at SM’s “Grandparents’ Playlist” event on September 8 and 9.
