LTO DRIVER’S LICENSE BACKLOG PRINTING
posted on October 09, 2017

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) implemented the 5-year validity driver’s license card starting October 2016 in response to the call of President Duterte to lengthen the validity period for convenience of the public.  However, the availability of the cards was delayed, thus, accumulating backlog printing of over 5 million nationwide.  For National Capital Region (NCR), the backlog reached 1 million cards.

In its desire to provide prompt issuance of the driver’s license cards to those who have already applied but without license cards yet, SM Supermalls’ assistance was sought to provide a Temporary Offsite Printing Office in selected malls from October to December 2017.  The following malls are identified to provide the service:  SM Marikina, SM Southmall, SM Fairview, SM North EDSA, SM Manila and Cherry Shaw.

The LTO Temporary Offsite Printing Office at SM Marikina will be launched on October 6, 2017; opening of the LTO Temporary Offsite Printing Office in other malls will follow.  LTO officials who will grace the Event are:  LTO Chief/Assistant Sec. Edgar Galvante, Executive Director Atty Romeo Vera Cruz, NCR Regional Director Atty.  Clarence Guinto and other NCR District Officers.  Ms. Annie Garcia, President of SM Supermalls will likewise attend the launching.  Also invited to the launch are Mayor Marcelino Teodoro and Vice-Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz.

Simultaneous with the launch of the Temporary Offsite Printing Office, a MOA signing between SM Prime Holdings, Inc. and Land Transportation Office will take place at SM Marikina.
